With Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) picking Peter Parker (Tom Holland) out of the woodwork in the events of Captain America: Civil War, there's a natural relationship built there between the two characters with a sense of trust and responsibility. In the two trailers we've seen for the Spider-Man: Homecoming thus far, we've seen Stark continue his advisor role to the young, aspiring Avenger but according to co-producer Eric Hauserman Carroll, it's a relationship that could very well be strained in the upcoming film.

"At this point in the story, Peter is at one of these crossroads where he should probably be asking for help," Carroll told Yahoo Movies in a recent interview. "But he's so hell-bent on making a name for Spider-Man in a world populated with superheroes, he acts a little rashly here. It turns out okay, but only because he gets help from his friend Iron Man. And it's not pretty."

As all fans of the Web Slinger know, Peter has grown up with a father-like figure in his life, so it's a great spot for a man like Stark to step in and help out. However, it's looking like a large factor could cause for an intense amount of strain between the two.
Parker's primary antagonist in Homecoming is long-time Sinister Six member, the Vulture (Michael Keaton). In Homecoming, the Vulture — Adrian Toomes — owns a salvage company that's looking to help the greater good clean up after the Battle of New York took place in The Avengers. To Toomes' dissatisfaction, a company called Damage Control — which is coincidentally owned by none other than Tony Stark — swoops in and controls the clean up so that no one else is exposed to the wreckage.

Bad story for everyone involved, though. Toomes got his hands on some of the Chitauri technology and uses it to create the weapons needed to get back at Iron Man himself. That is, of course, should he be able to get through Spider-Man.

Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.
