Star Wars Details We Hope To Learn At Celebration
Kicking off tomorrow in Orlando is Star Wars Celebration, the biggest Star Wars event in the [...]
The Last Jedi Footage
On Friday morning, Celebration is hosting a Last Jedi panel featuring President of Lucasfilm Kathleen Kennedy and director Rian Johnson. It's practically a given that there will be some sort of footage screened, as we've seen hardly a glimpse from the film, but how much will we see? At previous Celebrations, the in-house audience and live stream audience have seen both official trailers and behind-the-scenes featurettes, but is it possible that on Friday we'll get both? With how little we know about the movie, and with only San Diego Comic-Con and D23 being the big fan events between now and the film's release, this Friday could reveal huge bits of information.
prevnextHan Solo Standalone Details
In the same train of thought as what details we'll get about The Last Jedi, there are only two major fan events between now and the Han Solo film's release. We know the film's been shooting for a few weeks, but other than one photo of the cast, nothing else about the film has been released. Odds are pretty good that we could get a title or official logo, but is it possible we'll get footage? Considering the senses of humor of filmmakers Phil Lord and Chris Miller, it's possible we'll get to see something silly, but we'll take anything we can get.
prevnextStar Wars Rebels' Future
We know for certain that Star Wars Rebels will be getting a fourth season this fall, but what could happen in that season? What happens after that season? The timeline of Rebels' continuity is a little vague, but we know that the series takes place before the events of Rogue One. With Disney XD's tendency of ending their animated series with people wanting more instead of wearing out their welcome, could this season be the last? Could there be more connections to Rogue One? We hope to find out during the show's panel on Saturday.
prevnextEpisode IX Details
Considering this is the film that is furthest away, we are least likely to get any details about it, but it's wishful thinking, isn't it? So far, all we really know about Episode IX is that it will be directed by Colin Trevorrow and could potentially bring the storylines of characters like Rey and Kylo Ren to a close, but it's possible we might get more hints about the film during the 40th Anniversary panel, which kicks off festivities tomorrow morning. We also know that Carrie Fisher will be featured in the film and not with the use of CGI, so we can't help but wonder what kind of footage was filmed of her for The Last Jedi that can be used in Episode IX.
prevnextFuture Film Announcements
It has previously been announced that there won't be a Star Wars Celebration in 2018, but will return in 2019. However, Episode IX is scheduled to come out that year and Han Solo will have already been released, so where does that leave the future of the Star Wars saga? Whether it be a new standalone film or plans for what could come after Episode IX, we hope to at least get a few hints at what's in store for the series' theatrical future. Fingers crossed we'll get that Jar Jar Binks spin-off everyone's wanted.
prevnextOriginal Trilogy Release
If we don't get to learn much about the future, maybe we'll get to learn something about the series' past. More than their desire for news about upcoming films, fans are dying to get information about the original releases of the films. In 1997, George Lucas released his Special Edition versions of the original trilogy, adding tweaks throughout all of the films, most of which fans didn't enjoy. Since the creation of the Special Editions, they have been the standard for home video releases. Other than a limited edition release of the laserdisc transfers of the films that accompanied the Special Edition DVD release, if you want to legally own the original films, it's in their Special Edition versions. Is it possible an announcement could come that, in honor of the 40th anniversary, the untouched versions of the film could make a theatrical return, or possibly see an HD release? If this announcement comes, it's possible that no news out of the entire weekend will make fans as happy as seeing that yes, Han Solo did, in fact, shoot first.
