Armen Kevorkian, visual effects supervisor for The CW's superhero television shows, directed tonight's "Ace Reporter" episode of Supergirl. That is just one piece of info that co-executive producer Jessica Queller and executive producer Robert Rovner drop in this latest featurette.
"Previously to this episode, Supergirl has been fired by Snapper Carr and CatCo," Rovner explains. "And so we find her at the beginning of this episode in a bit of a funk."
Queller chimes in: "Her very good friend Lena shows up to cheer her up and kind of pull her out of her funk, but she also has a request of Kara. It turns out that Lena Luthor had an ex-boyfriend named Jack Spheer. She would really like her friend Kara to come as emotional support while she sees Jack."
Rovner adds: "Also at the press conference is Snapper Carr, which sets in motion a great competition between Snapper and Kara as they both vy for this news story.
"Jack is played by iZombie's Rahul Kohli, and we're very excited to have him on Supergirl."

Lena's (guest star Katie McGarth) ex-boyfriend, Jack Spheer (guest star Rahul Kohli), comes to National City to unveil his big breakthrough in nano-technology, which has the potential to eradicate all diseases. Lena asks Kara to attend Jack's conference with her for support. When Kara sees Snapper (guest Star Ian Gomez) in attendance she's inspired to tap back into her reporter skills and questions Jack on his discovery, which ultimately leads to a bigger investigation that puts everyone in danger.
Armen V. Kevorkian directed the episode written by Paula Yoo & Caitlin Parrish.
