Guardians Of The Galaxy: Chris Pratt Wants Star-Lord To Return To Earth

If you have ever imagined a world where Star-Lord didn't get kidnapped by Ravagers, then you have envisioned a boring universe. The Guardians of the Galaxy hero had his life thrown upside-down when Yondu's crew stole him away from the Quill family, and Peter was left to grow up in space. Up in the stars, the man was able to forge a name for himself, and tons of fans now know the name Star-Lord thanks to the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Still, there must be part of Peter which wants to go back to Earth if not to just see his grandpa.
Now, Chris Pratt is opening up about the future he'd like Star-Lord to explore, and the actor is on-board with Peter going back to his home planet.
In an interview with Screenrant, Pratt talked about his work on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and detailed Star-Lord's emotional journey. It was there that the star was asked what he personality felt was next for the hero, and here is what Pratt had to say:
"We haven't seen the Guardians on Earth yet. But I think, story wise, what is beautiful about this is the potential of Guardians of the Galaxy to go on and make several volumes is that you can explore space. You can expand outward. You don't have to fold in on yourself the way sometimes comic book movies will or superhero movies will," he explained.
"You get to further explore and I think there is a ton untapped potential in all the relationships between the Guardians. You know, we've now figured out the full origin of Peter Quill. We know who his mother is and from where he came. We know who raised him and who his biological father is by the end of this movie," Pratt continued.
"This is all stuff we've learned about Quill, but there is a lot more to learn about Quill and all the other Guardians of the Galaxy. You know, I could spitball but there is a lot of potential to do this for a long time."
Of course, fans would be happy to see Peter reunite with his family on Earth. While the hero's mother may be dead, the boy still had a loving grandfather. Originally, Guardians of the Galaxy intended to end with a poignant shot of Peter's grandfather staring at a photo of his late daughter before staring up to the sky with a wistful expression. The older version of Grandpa Quill was meant to be reflecting on Peter's disappearance, hinting that he knew the boy was abducted. But, in the end, James Gunn opted to cut the scene because it was "freaking sad."

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is written and directed by James Gunn (Slither). The film marks the return of the original Guardians, including Chris Pratt (Jurassic World) as Peter Quill/Star-Lord; Zoe Saldana (Star Trek Into Darkness) as Gamora; Dave Bautista (Spectre) as Drax; Vin Diesel (Furious 7) as the voice of Groot; Bradley Cooper (American Sniper) as the voice of Rocket; Michael Rooker (Jumper) as Yondu; Karen Gillan (The Big Short) as Nebula; and Sean Gunn (Gilmore Girls) as Kraglin. New cast members include Pom Klementieff (Oldboy), Elizabeth Debicki (The Great Gatsby, Everest), Chris Sullivan (The Knick, The Drop) and Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight, The Thing).
