Powers Boothe Dead At Age 68

Powers Boothe passed away this morning at age 68.

The Emmy Award-winning actor had memorable appearances in Deadwood, Marvel's The Avengers, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and others programs. Boothe won an Emmy for his apperance in Guyana Tragedy: The Story of Jim Jones in 1980.

In a statement to theWrap, his publicist Karen Sanfillipo said:

Powers died in his sleep this morning of natural causes. There will be a private service held in Texas where he was from. A memorial celebration in his honor is being considered for a future date. Donations can be made to the Gary Sinise Foundation, which honors the nation's defenders, veterans, first responders, their families and those in need.

Boothe is survived by his wife Pam and children, Parisse and Preston.

The news was first reported this morning by his friend Beau Bridges, who posted the following statement to Twitter:

Boothe had memorable roles in films such as MacGruber, Tombstone, U-Turn, and the Sin City franchise, as well as in acclaimed television series like Hatfields & McCoys and 24. He also provided the voice of Gorilla Grodd and Red Tornado in Justice League and Justice League Unlimited, as well as Lex Luthor in the DCAU film Superman: Brainiac Attacks.

A talented character actor, Boothe typically portrayed menacing and manipulative villains and had a charisma that made him perfect for the screen.
