By now, Marvel fans know who which Marvel Cinematic Universe characters will be featured in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War, but the two-part movie event is so big that there is room for an entire universe of Marvel movie (and Marvel TV) supporting characters to make a cameo.
When Avengers 3 arrives on May 4, 2018, fans will have just got done playing in the kingdom of King T'Challa (Captain America: Civil War's Chadwick Boseman), with the release of Marvel's Black Panther in February of that same year. Now, we're hearing that the world of Black Panther could also be featured in Infinity War.
Backstage.com reported on the following casting call for Avengers: Infinity War extras:
"The feature seeks a female aged 20–49 with a dark complexion and who either is "bald or [has] very short, black hair" to serve as a stand-in. Additionally, African American males ages 21–49 are needed, also for stand-in gigs."
Marvel fans will recognize that the female description could easily be for a member of the Dora Milaje, King T'Challa's personal bodyguard squad, comprised of his homeland Wakanda's fiercest female warriors. In Marvel Comics they often appear with shaved heads tattooed in elaborate designs. We met one of their ranks in Captain America: Civil War, in the scene where Black Widow got a little too close to King T'Challa.
As for the male actors? Given the ethnic and age stipulations, they could easily be playing an army of Wakandan soldiers, fighting for T'Challa's kingdom against whatever cosmic invaders the Earth is trying to repel.
That's all speculation, but it's a scenario that could easily be in the cards for Infinity War.
SYNOPSIS: Avengers: Infinity War is described by Marvel Studios as the culmination of everything in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Iron Man in 2008. The movie is filming now under directors Anthony and Joe Russo, from a screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.
The expansive confirmed cast includes Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Holland, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bethany, Sebastian Stan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Pom Klementieff, and Josh Brolin as the villain Thanos. Avengers: Infinity War and its as-yet-untitled sequel are filming back-to-back for a May 4, 2018 and May 3, 2019 release, respectively.
