Alongside the Electronic Entertainment Expo going public this year (with 15,000 tickets that managed to sell out in quite a hurry), the ESA is also hosting an event just down the street at the Novo Theater, known as the E3 Coliseum. There, a number of high-profile developers will host panels to talk about the in's and out's of gaming.

Up until this point, speakers for the E3 Coliseum haven't been announced just yet. But the team just recently confirmed a very big name that will be in attendance over the course of the week – Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn!

The team confirmed the director's attendance on Twitter this past week, noting, "Announcing our 1st #E3COLISEUM speaker: Guardians of the Galaxy Director @JamesGunn!" It also linked to the Facebook page where you'll be able to see all the E3 Coliseum action live.

It's unknown to what extent Gunn will be talking about gaming, but he's sure to tie in some references to Galaxy, especially considering that Vol. 2 just hit theaters earlier in the month and has already grossed $300 million here in the United States, and over $400 million more overseas. Who knows, he might even make mention of the Telltale Guardians of the Galaxy game, which premiered last month.

He does have a certain style when it comes to talking about all things geekery, so consider this a must-attend panel, which is likely to fill up the seats quickly.

Gunn certainly has his fair share of connections to gaming. Well before he took the helm on Galaxy, he paired up with producer Suda 51 on the action game Lollipop Chainsaw, in which he wrote the script. The game was pretty well-received, and, out of sheer coincidence, it's got an eclectic soundtrack, using "Cherry Bomb" just as well as the first Guardians of the Galaxy did. We would cross our fingers for a sequel, but, hey, Gunn's busy with Guardians 3 in the pipeline, so we'll let him do his thing.

Look for more information on who'll be joining the E3 Coliseum line-up soon. We're looking forward to what Gunn has on his mind. Besides planning things for our favorite a-holes, that is.
