Dead By Daylight Fully Available For Console Preorder

Just in time to provide a bit of competition for Friday the 13th: The Game, the asymmetrical horror game Dead by Daylight: Special Edition is now fully available for preorder on Xbox One and Playstation 4.

Starbreeze Publishing and Behavior Interactive, the teams behind the creation of the game that was first on PC, announced back in April that they had partnered with 505 Games to bring the slasher-style game to consoles over the summer. They set a release date for June 20, and it looks like they're holding strong to that date as the digital version of the game is now also available for preordering alongside the disc format.

By putting players in control of either one out of nine survivors or one of the seven crazed killers, the goal of this scare-inducing game is to either survive being hunted or to be the one doing the hunting as you seek out and put an end to each of the survivors. The killers come in many shapes and forms, sometimes as supernatural entities, occasionally as crazed doctors, and even as popular horror characters such as Michael Myers. Survivors also boast their own variety of characters from different backgrounds and areas of expertise. Each survivor and killer brings unique abilities to the table to help them succeed in their mission to either survive or kill.

In an announcement posted on the Xbox Wire, Mathiue Cote, the Game Director at Behaviour Digital, said that the console version presented the team with new opportunities to adjust some components of the game.

"Creating the console version of Dead by Daylight gave us an opportunity complete large overhaul of our core game systems, like UI and matchmaking, and it was amazing to be able to do that on our game after so many players had spent time in it," Cote wrote. "We have a greater understanding of the way people play. And now a whole new group of passionate fans are coming to join the community and we can't wait to hear what they have to say."

The Dead by Daylight: Special Edition is set to be released for consoles on June 20 in the United States and on June 23 in Europe.
