Since Wonder Woman opened this past weekend, the film has received positive reception from both critics and audiences - particularly from quite a few A-List stars. Two of the newest additions to that list are none other than media mogul Oprah Winfrey and acclaimed director Ava DuVernay.
Winfrey and DuVernay discussed Wonder Woman's success while doing press for their OWN Network series Queen Sugar. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the two women congratulated Wonder Woman's director, Patty Jenkins, with kind words and happy dancing.

"I saw Wonder Woman over the weekend." DuVernay explained. "I actually saw Patty yesterday and told her that when her name came up in the credits at the end of Wonder Woman, I cried. I shed a tear. I was so overcome and emotional with what she had done, knowing that she's done something that no other woman has ever done. And she did it so well. And the country and the world actually responded to it. The numbers around the world that that film has done proves that people are thirsty and hungry and craving more nuanced images of women. So I'm so proud of her, so excited."
With Jenkins joining the very small list of female directors who have helmed a film with a $100+ million budget, there's certainly reason for DuVernay and Winfrey to celebrate. The director of Selma and 13th is set to join that list very soon, with the release of next April's A Wrinkle in Time (which Winfrey appears in).

The film stars Gal Gadot (Diana Prince/Wonder Woman), Chris Pine (Steve Trevor), Robin Wright (General Antiope), Connie Nielsen (Queen Hippolyta), David Thewlis, Elena Anaya, Lucy Davis (Etta Candy), Danny Huston, Ewen Bremmer, Doutzen Kroes, Samantha Jo (Euboea), Florence Kasumba (Senator Acantha), Said Taghmaoui, Eleanor Matsuura (Epione), Emily Carey (Young Diana), and Lisa Loven Kongsli (Menalippe).
Wonder Woman is in theaters now, followed by Justice League on November 17, 2017; Aquaman on July 27, 2018; Shazam on April 5, 2019; Justice League 2 on June 14, 2019; Cyborg on April 3, 2020; and Green Lantern Corps on July 24, 2020. The Flash, The Batman, Dark Universe and Man of Steel 2 are currently without a release dates.
