The 10 Best Adam West Batman '66 GIFs
The Batman 66 television series was full of delightful moments, and thanks to the internet those [...]
Punches, Punches, Punches
Batman and Robin never had a problem throwing down with the bad guys, but rarely did they unleash on civilians.
That wasn't the case here, as both heroes unleash punch after punch against two doppelgangers. Batman never liked to resort to force, but sometimes you can't solve a situation without using a mean left right combo.
prevnextGet Rid Of The Bomb
During the events of the Batman movie the evil quartet of The Riddler, Joker, Penguin, and Catwoman put numerous innocents in danger when they place a bomb with a lit fuse near a heavily trafficked pier.
Batman then sets out to get rid of the bomb, but every time he turns around there's someone else near him, or in one particular case, an entire marching band. He runs all over trying to find a safe place to dispose of it before throwing it in the river, but before he does he says "Some days you just can't get rid of a bomb!"
Thus, a classic line was born, and a classic GIF as well.
prevnextSurfs Up
Yeah, you knew this was going to be on here.
When the Joker challenges Batman to a surfing contest, well, you have to honor it. So Batman and Joker get on their trunks (Batman branded in Bruce's case) and head off to surf the waves.
There's a lot to love about this sequence, as evidenced in the GIF below, but the best part is that the shark repellant from the movie also makes an appearance here. Just goes to show that Batman is always prepared.
Also, who else wants a pair of those Batman swim trunks?
prevnextBatusi Mind Meld
You don't have to search very long to find another Batusi GIF, but this one is perhaps the weirdest.
The Batusi showed up in the Batman 60's series premiere, as Batman tried to get information out of the Riddler's assistant. To play up the angle he ends up dancing with her, and thus the Batusi was born.
To this day it still remains one of the most popular sequences from the show, but this takes it to another level, playing out some weird hallucinogenic dream.
Don't stare at it too long, but you can see it below.
prevnextBatman vs The Shark
While the amazing sound effects make this moment even better, the GIF version of this Batman vs the Shark battle is pretty memorable as well.
The plastic shark is trying to eat Batman's leg, and Batman also happens to be hanging on for dear life to the Bat-copter's ladder. Not a great situation to be sure, so Batman just beats the snot out of the shark with this fists.
He ends up needing Shark repellent to finally get rid of him, but the punches must have at least made the shark uncomfortable.
prevnextRobot Chase
There was a great deal of running in the Batman 66 series, but this time it wasn't to dispose of a bomb, but rather to get away from a giant robot.
That's not how the original episode played out of course, as any robot made for the show would have to feature some bright red button or psychedelic paint job. This robot, however, comes courtesy of the original Robocop, the ED-209 to be exact.
Batman and Robin have been in rough situations before, but unless Batman has a portable EMP in his belt they might be doomed on this one.
prevnextRunning With Bombs
How do you make Batman running with a bomb over his head any better?
You multiply it and put it on a loop, and that's exactly what this GIF does so well.
An infinite number of Batmen are seen running along the pier, forming the most exhausting relay team ever. This was seen of course in the famous Batman movie and highlighted the series' penchant for slapstick and over the top flavor.
prevnextRunning With A Star
Remember that amazing Bomb sequence from earlier? Well, it makes a second appearance, only this time with a little Mario thrown in.
Batman is sprinting through the crowds trying to find somewhere to get rid of the bomb, but if this were in Mario's world maybe he isn't running to get rid of a bomb, but rather running from one. If that's the case, nothing better to have than the power of a star, making you invincible to whatever you may run into.
It also makes for a pretty compelling GIF.
prevnextRunning From The Hulk
Okay, so this never happened in the show or the movie, but it just looked too amazing to not give it the number one spot.
As you can see, the running sequence that shows Batman and Robin sprinting down a city street has been laid over the rampaging Hulk scene from Avengers: Age of Ultron. The results are magnificent, but it should be said that Batman would only run for so long.
At some point, there is bound to be some sort of gamma ray reverse-inducer thingamabob in his utility belt to bring things back in his favor.
prevnextBefore You Go
The two actors starred last year in an animated movie bringing them back to their iconic roles, and you can find the official description below.
It's back to the 1960s as Batman and Robin spring into action when Gotham City is threatened by a quartet of Batman's most fiendish foes – Penguin, The Joker, Riddler and Catwoman. The four Super-Villains have combined their wicked talents to hatch a plot so nefarious that the Dynamic Duo will need to go to outer space (and back) to foil their arch enemies and restore order in Gotham City. It's a truly fantastic adventure that will pit good against evil, good against good, evil against evil … and feature two words that exponentially raise the stakes for both sides: Replicator Ray. Holy Multiplication Tables!
The film features the vocal performances of Adam West (Batman), Burt Ward (Robin) and Julie Newmar (Catwoman). It also includes Jeff Bergman as the Joker, William Salyers as The Penguin, Wally Wingert as The Riddler, Lynne Marie Stewart as Aunt Harriett, Jim Ward as Commissioner Gordon, and Sirena Irwin as TV show host Miranda Moore.
Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders is available now.
