Wonder Woman has been in theaters for a few weeks now, and has earned its fair share of hype from fans and critics alike. And now, that buzz has helped the DC Extended Universe film clear yet another significant box office milestone.
Deadline is reporting that the Gal Gadot-led film earned another $7.3 million in June 23rd ticket sales. This officially helped Wonder Woman cross the $300 million mark in the domestic box office. Worldwide, the film has earned over $600 million, making it the highest grossing film directed by a woman.
If the film maintains this box office performance, it could easily become the DCEU film with the highest domestic gross. Wonder Woman already passed the domestic box office earnings of Man of Steel ($291 million), and sources project it to outperform the numbers of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice ($330.3 million) and Suicide Squad ($325.1 million) as well.
Wonder Woman is projected to make a weekend gross of $26.17 million for the remainder of this weekend, which would give the film the best fourth weekend in the domestic box office for a Warner Bros. release, beating out The Dark Knight's $26.11 million. Sources are also projecting that Wonder Woman could further establish itself in the pantheon of superhero films, possibly becoming one of the top 10 highest grossing films of the genre.
