Earlier this year, we reported on a new Battlestar Galactica game making our way to consoles and PC this summer, and now we've got a closer look at what this title, nicknamed Deadlock, is all about.

The developers at Slitherine Games recently hosted a nearly 60 minute live-stream showcasing what players can expect from the game, which was in the works for about a year's time over at Black Lab Games. In it, players will battle in the First Cylon War, taking on a single player campaign that features an original story from the series, instead of something ripped straight out of one of the shows.

The game isn't an action title like previous entries in the Battlestar series. Instead, it focuses more on turn-based tactics, but with factions actually receiving and following their orders at the same time, instead of waiting for their respective turn. They play out more quickly as a result, making battles much more exciting than the usual turn-based affair. In addition, you can take advantage of a replay system that gives you a better look at how your turn will play out, in case you need to make up for a mistake.

The missiles and torpedoes within the game actually work on a physics system, so you'll need to watch where you're aiming, lest you do damage to your own armada by accident. So maybe don't get too trigger happy there, yeah?

The video above demonstrates just how well this battle system plays out, and the sheer authenticity that the team at Slitherine Games is going for. What's more, it will focus heavily with co-op-based multiplayer as well, something that the team is working on so players can team up with one another. The single player campaign will have a lot to offer as well, with 14 various story missions on the Colonial side. You can also explore and unlock new stuff as well, if you're feeling adventurous.

If you've been missing the Battlestar Galactica something fierce (like us), then Deadlock will certainly be your speed, even if it requires a little more dexterity than the usual space adventure.

Battlestar Galactica: Deadlock will arrive later this summer for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
