Call Of Duty: Black Ops III Gets Free Maps, Other Goodies For Days Of Summer

The summer's still going on, and that's good news for fans of Call of Duty: Black Ops III, as the developers at Treyarch have provided an update to the game that provides a few free goodies to get players through the hot days of July.

This week's update is live, and gives fans access to the full Escalation downloadable content pack free of charge, which consists of four multiplayer maps – Skyjacked, Gauntlet, Rise and Splash. You can get a good peek at what these maps have to offer in the trailer above, complete with that awesome summer font that really drives the promotion home.

But that's not all. In addition, a variety of dedicated XP events will be held throughout the week that will enable players to level up in a number of ways, and will also throw two new weapons into the fold, the AN94 and China Lake. You can gain access to these through Supply Drops, so keep an eye open for when they're available.

Finally, a new limited time Pack-A-Punch Camo is also available through the Supply Drop, in the form of Cherry Fizzy. But keep in mind that this is a limited edition item, which means it'll only be in the loot pool for about a week's time. Once you miss it, well, that's pretty much it.

The maps will be available from now through August 1st at 10 AM PDT, but if you enjoy them over the course of the trial run, keep in mind that you can still pick up the map pack for a pretty reasonable $14.99 once you get through them. Splash by itself is a lot of fun, as you pretty much fight your way through a water park – but with real guns replacing the water cannons, mind you.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III is available now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. There's also a multiplayer-only edition for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but they aren't included in this promotion.
