Disney has had a huge weekend rolling out new content during their D23 Expo, but along with all of the gaming news that's been revealed related to Spider-Man, Star Wars Battlefront II many more games, the massive company is also bringing competitive gaming to TV by investing in Esports.

News of the move to get into the growing world of Esports comes from a series of investments that Disney reportedly made recently, more than one of which being related to the gaming industry.

One of the companies that Disney made a move on was aXiomatic, a company that might not ring a bell to many gamers but is important nonetheless. This is an ownership group that owns the majority of competitive gaming organization Team Liquid. If you're not familiar with that Esports group, they've got teams competing in different games such as Counter-Strike, Super Smash Bros., Overwatch, and League of Legends.

For those gamers who are interested in getting into the world of competitive gaming but aren't quite sure where to start, Disney is also providing an extremely accessible option after their recent investments.

Esports fans will be very aware that the Evo 2017 event is currently underway where some of the best gamers go head-to-head in multiple games, but they might not have known that Disney will be providing an outlet to view two of the games through their TV channel Disney XD. A new gaming-centered block of programming called D|XP will showcase gaming events through the channel, the first of which will be the Evo finals of Super Smash Bros.

Though it wasn't announced alongside the tweet that revealed the Super Smash Bros. airing on TV, the finals of Street Fighter V also appear to be scheduled for the Disney XD lineup.

These two games are just the first of many that could be aired during the gaming segment, especially when taking into consideration their investment into Team Liquid that has so many different gaming teams. League of Legends, Counter-Strike, and other games are certainly a bit more violent than the two being aired, so it might be some time before they make their way to TV through Disney as well.
