Splatoon 2 for the Nintendo Switch looks to provide the system with a great competitive title, one in which friends can get together for some action as they cover each map in paint and "splat" each other to their heart's content.

That said, there are going to be a few crybabies out there that don't take the game lightly, and may feel compelled to quit early in favor of jumping into another match to see if they gain an advantage – you know, rage quitting.

But be warned – Nintendo isn't going to be taking rage quitting lightly.

A Twitter user by the name of Stealth has posted the below image from what appears to be the end result of a Splatfest that took place this weekend, showing that a player can get penalized if they try to jump out of a match too early. "Splatoon 2's rage quitting message is better than most fighting games," he noted.

The message reads, "Your previous online play session didn't end naturally, which is PREEEEETTY suspicious. If this keep happens, we're gonna have to block you from playing online for a while. Make sure your Internet isn't busted and try again."

Now, Nintendo didn't note just how long the online ban would last, or if it's forming a permanent list of rage quitters to keep from the game for a prolonged period of time. We've reached out to the publisher to see if it could provide any additional comment.

For now – considering the game isn't even out yet – we're going to note that this is probably a temporary ban. Still, here's hoping it's a system that treats rage quitters properly, while at the same time recognizing when it's just someone having Internet trouble. We'll see how well the system is implemented as the game makes its way towards release this weekend.

And, really, just stick around for the match for the long haul, yeah? You can't win 'em all, and there's always a good opportunity to come back in the next round – with a different weapon in mind – and kick some ass. It's not worth getting banned over just because you feel like you didn't have something go your way. Hey, we didn't win every Splatfest either. But we had fun. That's the point.

Splatoon 2 releases on July 21st for Nintendo Switch.
