Several bonuses were promised for Pokemon Go players worldwide if players could contribute enough of their efforts to the challenges that were in place at Pokemon Go Fest. Some of the perks that players could look forward to included double Stardust, Candy, and XP, more Pokemon encounters, and reduced hatching and buddy distance. While players were able to get all of these bonuses for a 48-hour time period after Pokemon Go Fest ended, some Trainers that live in more rural areas are finally getting something similar to the experience that players in metro areas have had since the game's release.

While finding Legendary Raids are what most players are hoping for after Pokemon Go Fest, the increased spawn rate of nearby Pokemon provides plenty of catches to fill the gaps between the Legendary Raids. For rural players, these increased encounters are a welcome change from the usually sparse findings. Trainers who live further out from the more populated areas are now able to find many more wild Pokemon to add to their collection and give them a boost from the double bonuses that are in place, but unfortunately, it's easy to remember that the boost to the encounters is only a temporary one that'll last a few more hours.

Rural players have been getting the short end of the stick when it comes to Pokemon Go since the game was released. Because of lower rates of Pokemon encounters and fewer PokeStop and gym options, many opted to take their Pokemon-hunting excursions into city areas in order to have a more enjoyable experience. While that's one way to fix the problem, traveling to a nearby metro are to play a game that may or may not yield worthwhile results – or even allow you to connect to the game as was the case very early on and at Pokemon Go Fest – was really a temporary fix to the larger problem of rural areas being at a disadvantage. To add to the frustration from rural players, the knowledge that spawn rates can be increased is leading to more requests for raising the spawn rate of certain areas to compensate for rural players, but the logistics of that would be totally on Niantic's end.

The increased spawn rate and other bonuses will end today on July 24 at 5 p.m. PDT, so make sure you get your time in on Pokemon Go while you still can.
