While a lot of panels had some big news to offer at San Diego Comic-Con this past weekend, there was one that didn't get a lot of reports – Destiny 2. Granted, that was probably because a lot of people were playing the open beta that went live this weeiend – and is still live through tomorrow.

Still, that didn't stop Activision from posting a recap of the panel, which featured a number of talents from Bungie, including game director Luke Smith, design lead Gavin Irby, narrative design lead Guillaume Colomb, senior narrative lead lead Jason Harris, cinematic lead Matthew Ward, and actor Lance Reddick, who voices Commander Zavala in the game.

"I was thinking about how tired I would be of hearing me talk by now, so I wanted to bring a bunch of friends with me this time to talk about the story in Destiny 2," noted Smith at the start of the panel.

The team talked about various subjects over the course of the panel, including how the Traveler and Ghaul play such a big part in the bigger chunk of it. Matthew noted, "This is the biggest low that Ghaul has ever suffered, losing the Traveler." After that, Jason pointed out, "And we were able to influence the campaign and the missions themselves" through what they were doing with the cinematics. Gavin added that the main story is about how the characters deal with losing the Light, and also what it means to be chosen, both for them and for Ghaul. "They had a relationship that they took for granted, and we called that into question."

Although the panel didn't have too many surprises to offer (unlike the Crash Bandicoot and Call of Duty: WWII panels that Activision hosted over the weekend), fans were enthralled as they learned more about the history of the people behind the game, as well as the new direction Bungie is taking the story. So, yeah, it's safe to say that the company is thrilled to have the game coming soon.

You can catch more details from the panel here, and it's well worth a read.

Destiny 2 releases on September 6th for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and October 24th for PC.
