Avengers: Infinity War is less than a year out now, and fans are more pumped for the movie than ever. Marvel Studios has yet to debut an official trailer for the third Avengers flick, but leaked footage and teaser descriptions have got fans buzzing about the movie already. And, now, one of the film's directors is opening up about who its main characters will be.

Recently, Joe Russo came around to chat with Screen Rant about Avengers: Infinity War, and the co-director touched upon the film's cast. It was there the Russo brother revealed the film centers around the MCU heroes you would expect it to.
"You know, the story really centers who you would expect it to center around, so our more important characters," the director said.
"This is a culmination film ten years in the making and we are pulling the main story threads from all of the different franchises into one unifying narrative. So any of the important characters are going to be in this film and they are going to have something important to do in the movie."
Of course, there are fans who would argue that every hero within the MCU is an important one; Just because Ant-Man and Black Panther are new to the game doesn't mean they are second-string fighters. Still, the MCU does play favorites at times, and fans can expect folks like Iron Man and Captain American to be focal points of Avengers: Infinity War.
The impending blockbuster may feature a cast of 60+ characters, but Tony Stark and Steve Rogers will still head up the roster. The pair were the leads of Captain America: Civil War last year, and Avengers: Infinity War will likely wrap up their ongoing conflict and even ease the two characters out of the MCU.
However, when it comes to Marvel's next Avengers film, there is one name who cannot be forgotten. Heroes like Spider-Man are important, but no one can overshadow Thanos. Kevin Feige has stressed the Mad Titan will own Avengers: Infinity War when it debuts, and the MCU will prompt its heroes to steal back their spotlight when Avengers 4 comes around.
