Fans are starting to worry about Maggie Rhee on The Walking Dead after showrunner Scott Gimple's [...]
The Dark Reactions
The immediate reaction for some fans was confusion. Twitter user LogicSpiel can't quite make sense of it all and simply wonders, "uh, what?"
The Walking Dead showrunner says Maggie's baby won't be born in season 8, "but anything's possible" - uh, what?

Then, there is the crowd which has a dark conclusion. Peter Palmasano takes Gimple's words from the preview special into account and asks, "What if the baby never gets a chance to be born?" You know, like if its mother won't survive the upcoming war.
Maggie's baby is not born in Season 8 of #TWD People assume it'll occur next season. What if the baby never gets a chance to be born?

"Bet Maggie dies next season," said Jesse Grubb, just one day after Gimple's word came out.

"I hate to say it but Maggie is gonna die," Junior Valentine said. "Don't want her to but it's gonna happen." It's becoming a dark trend for fans of Glenn's widowed wife.

Twitter user Shivi tosses Maggie into a crowd of characters they refuse to see die, which also includes Daryl, Carl, Rick, Morgan and Tara.

Twitter user Ernordeth Puer-Irae has a heartbreaking theory of their own. "Season 8 Maggie's baby won't be born," they wrote. "She's going to have a miscarriage just to make us have the feels."

Then, there is Val, and the many like her. "We all know what Scott Gimple means by Maggie's baby will not be born in Season 8," Val wrote. "It means, this baby will never be born." Appropriately, a gif of the old Taylor Swift, who also happens to be dead, accompanies the tweet.

Spoilers for The Walking Dead comics and possibly TV series follow!
Should AMC's The Walking Dead continue to accurately follow its comic book source material, Maggie's baby will be born safe and sound. The fact that the little one won't arrive in Season Eight, however, is an indication of the timeline for the upcoming episodes.
Immediately following the "All Out War" story arc in The Walking Dead comics, the series features a major time jump. In that time, which is commonly estimated to span two years, Maggie's baby is born. This prompts other speculation that the "All Out War" adaptation on television will span the entirety of The Walking Dead's eighth season.
With Gimple teasing the time jump to be an accurate guess for the Old Man Rick moment seen in The Walking Dead's Season Eight trailer, it seems safe to assume the Season Eight finale will be a conclusion of sorts for the war with Season Nine kicking off after the time jump!
