Chris Hemsworth Was Concerned About 'Avengers: Infinity War' After 'Thor: Ragnarok'

Chris Hemsworth's Thor has been part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2009, but having a near decade of experience didn't keep the actor from having some concerns about going from Thor: Ragnarok to Avengers: Infinity War.

The actor recently told CinemaBlend that when it came to making Infinity War he wasn't put off by the scale of production or how the events of the film could spell major changes for the Avengers and the MCU going forward. Instead, Hemsworth was worried about working with the Russo brothers after having had so much fun working with Ragnarok director Taika Waititi.

"I came into [Avengers: Infinity War] honestly nervous after this film because I had the most liberating experience, thinking, 'Arg, I've got to keep this continuity,'" Hemsworth said.

In making Thor: Ragnarok, Waititi chose to embrace a lighter, more comedic tone for the film and embraced the sci-fi elements from Thor's comic history that previous installments of the franchise leaned away from. Hemsworth recently praised the director for being open to doing new things and improvising to make a fresh-feeling Thor film. Naturally, going from a positive creative environment to a completely different one was daunting, but Hemsworth said that working with the Russo brothers on Infinity War ended up being enjoyable as well.

"And it was a whole different experience again, but as enjoyable. I think if you stay open-minded to it, and available to anyone's suggestions and input, then I think that's the safest place to be, you know?"

Going from one director to others with the Thor character isn't the only reason Hemsworth may have had concerns, however. Even with the lighter tone and humor of Ragnarok, Thor undergoes some significant changes in the film, including losing Mjolnir and a dramatic new look. The film also allowed for Hemsworth to explore the humor in his character while Avengers: Infinity War with the threat of Thanos coming for the Infinity Stones will need a return to a more serious God of Thunder.

It sounds like Hemsworth enjoyed making both films, however, and fans will get to see just how much fun Waititi's Thor: Ragnarok is when it arrives in theaters November 3rd.
