Chris Hemsworth And Mark Ruffalo React To TV Host Spoiling 'Thor: Ragnarok'

An Australian television host may have just given away a significant plot twist from Thor: Ragnarok, and stars Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo were forced to handle the situation,

SPOILER WARNING for Thor: Ragnarok

Hemsworth and Ruffalo were promoting Thor: Ragnarok with an interview on the Australian news panel show The Project.

In the middle of the interview, the host asks Hemsworth and Ruffalo about Cate Blanchett's character, Hela.

In the question, the host refers to Hela multiple times as being Thor's sister.

Hemsworth seems immediately uncomfortable with the question and after the second time that the host calls Hela Thor's sister Hemsworth cuts him off.

"You can't say it's his sister," Hemsworth says. "You can't give that away."

Ruffalo chimes in with a Pig Latin warning to "ixnay on the istersay."

Hemsworth then wonders if the broadcast is live or if they can rewind the tape.

While its unfortunate that this bit of information had to come out this way, it does explain a bit about Hela's motivations in the film. It's been suggested that Hela is out to claim for herself something she feels was taken from or denied to her. If she is a daughter of Odin, and older than Thor, then she may feel that she should rightfully be heir to the throne of Asgard.

In the Marvel Comics universe, Thor does have a sister, the half-Angel named Angela who was raised in the lost tenth realm of the World Tree, Hevan. We already know that Thor: Ragnarok's Hela is a composite of the classic Hela character and Gorr the God-Butcher, but now we're left to wonder if Angela also helped inspire Blanchett's take on the character.

It should be noted that Ruffalo isn't in a great position to criticize anyone about revealing spoilers after he accidentally live-streamed a portion of Thor: Ragnarok.
