EA just released a stunning new single-player trailer for Star Wars Battlefront 2, which gives us our first look at several iconic characters. We have a brief snippet of gameplay showing Kylo Ren in action for the first time, and our first look at the beloved Princess Leia. You can watch the new trailer above.

"Ignite the inferno and burn the Rebellion to the ground in Star Wars Battlefront 2's single-player campaign. Take on the role of Commander Iden Versio in a story following the destruction of the Death Star II and the death of the Emperor."

We love seeing our classic characters come to life in new ways, but EA is wanting to shine the brightest spotlight on our brand new protagonist Iden. Iden represents an interesting everyman archetype for players to relate to. Iden grew up completely assimilated to the Imperial perspective, which is something that we don't get to see for ourselves very often. Early in the game we see the Death Star explode through the eyes of Iden, and it changes everything. For the first time, her faith in the strength of the empire is shaken, and it affects the rest of the story in profound ways.

"In the leadup to The Force Awakens," says LucasFilm creative executive Steve Blank, "we had started to develop a series of new stories that were starting to fill in some of that gap in time. These guys had read all of that material: Claudia Grave's Lost Stars, Chuck Lendig's Aftermath, Greg Rucka's Shattered Empire, all these different pieces.

"Another great thing they included was to do it from an Imperial point of view. It hadn't really been done before, at least not at that fidelity. So they sold us from day one on that idea, and we put our nose to the grindstone — working on all the details of what that would become."

We'll have more details (and footage) of Star Wars Battlefront 2's campaign very soon, so stay tuned!
