After months of waiting, The Walking Dead is finally set to return to AMC, and the All Out War ia about to begin. Unfortunately, war doesn't often come and go without casualties.

Let's go ahead and prepare now, there will likely be some deaths in The Walking Dead this season that we're just not ready for. At some point, a couple of our favorite characters are going to bite the dust.

So who will it be?

In all likelihood, Father Gabriel seems like the best candidate here, and his death could potentially happen in the premiere or one of the other early episodes. He's a character people have started to like, so it would affect people if he was killed, but that's what makes him perfect for a premiere send-off. The emotion felt by seeing Gabriel go would keep fans invested, but they wouldn't too upset and leave the show, like they might if Daryl or Carol got axed. Plus, Gabriel's story isn't really going anywhere. If he does die, that wouldn't change anything for the other characters except give them an even bigger reason to fight.

Despite the fact that their fates in the comic don't exactly go this way, look for the show to kill off a couple of the major swing players in the All Out War. The swing players are essentially the characters who could low-key turn the tide of the entire war, like Eugene, Dwight, Simon and Gregory. All of them have the potential to get caught up in the spy game and it could cost them. Gregory is almost guaranteed to go, given how Maggie has taken control of Hilltop. One of those other men is probably next in line.

The other major death to expect this season is Morgan Jones. The character has become one of the most compelling on the show, mainly thanks to the impeccable talent of Lennie James, but he's come full circle. The guy is fragile once again; a loose cannon. If he starts down another dark path, like he did in the "clear" days, it's going to end in death.

Knowing the nature of The Walking Dead, there are could be many, many more casualties in this war. Honestly, when you really think about it, the only characters that are truly safe are Rick, Carl, Michonne and Judith. Well, maybe Daryl, because AMC certainly doesn't want to deal with a riot.
