There is a lot of hype surrounding the upcoming Season 8 of AMC's popular zombie series The Walking Dead. The comic series turned TV show isn't just exclusive to a one hour timeslot for television lovers, it has also inspired several video game adaptations as well as an insanely detailed VR experience. Because of this, Microsoft has partnered up with AMC for a special spotlight for Xbox fans that also happen to enjoy seeing zombies eat people.

The recently announced partnership entails a six-second ad before the second and third episodes within Season 8. There's a lot to get excited for, after all, with the Xbox One X making its way onto the market and many are looking forward to seeing more of the powerhouse console. So how does this tie-in with The Walking Dead and why should we care?

It's not easy making sure a product flows seamlessly within the show in question, even more difficult when the show in question has no need for the Xbox technology. Because of this, Microsoft had to be a little creative and instead chose the method of a quick 6 second spot to still get their name out there, without disrupting the natural flow of the show itself. The new Xbox campaign falls in-line with the Mountain Dew marketing featuring select characters from The Walking Dead that will be going live this fall.

A 60 second spotlight will also be provided during the Season 8 premiere. In addition to sloted ad space, Xbox will be sponsoring "coming attractions", as well as lending their name to the red carpet live stream for The Walking Dead held at The Greek Theatre in Lost Angeles, CA for the premiere.

With technology being more and more advanced, and the market demanding more "quick-to-the-point" pitches, these slated six-second slots are becoming a more viable option for producers of products spanning all kinds of audiences.

Season 8 of The Walking Dead officially premieres Sunday, October 22nd on AMC.
