TWD Morales Crossover

Move aside, Abraham Ford. There is suddenly a new, more exciting, and more plausible candidate for The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead crossover event.

Spoilers for The Walking Dead Episode 8x02 follow.

In the final moments of The Damned, Rick Grimes found his old Atlanta buddy Morales in a Savior outpost. Actually, the more accurate description is would be Morales found Rick -- and held him at gunpoint. Somehow, Morales has transformed into a villain and become a full-on member of the Saviors.

According to Morales actor Juan Pareja on After the Dead, the story of how the character arrived as a Savior is one which might be told on Fear the Walking Dead for the promised crossover.

"I would be very excited to find out myself," Pareja said. "I really can't say anything at this moment. And I don't think a lot of people are too in the know. They're keeping this one pretty close to the chest, as well. We will see. I think it's definitely a real possibility. I think the fans have been wanting to see and find out what's been going on with Morales. They'll get some of that [on The Walking Dead] and maybe it will open the possibility in the world to explore a little more on Fear of the Walking Dead, pre-Walking Dead crossover action."

At New York Comic Con, Robert Kirkman teased the possible scenarios the crossover would call for. "Are we going to see a Walking Dead character's backstory play out in Fear the Walking Dead?" Kirkman called out. "Or are we going to see a Fear the Walking Dead character show up in The Walking Dead?"

With Morales, the crossover suddenly has the opportunity to execute both scenarios. In any case, executive producer Greg Nicotero is eager to share his excitement for the upcoming event on Fear.

"I will tell you, I've read the first two outlines, and they're astonishingly good," Nicotero told ComicBook.com. "It really got me very, very excited about the upcoming season. I think Andrew [Chambliss] and Ian [Goldberg] have done an amazing job. There's great, great stuff coming up on Fear the Walking Dead next year."
