What Does Doctor Strange Do In 'Thor: Ragnarok'?

The post-credits scene in Doctor Strange teased that Marvel's Sorcerer Supreme would meet the god of thunder sometime in the near future.

The near future became a reality in Thor: Ragnarok. Here's how it all went down.

After returning to Asgard to find Loki masquerading as Odin, Thor quickly ended the charade and demanded to know where the real Odin was. Loki took Thor back to Midgard and to the retirement home where he had stashed their father only to find that the building had been leveled. Before Thor can finish chastising Loki, a sling ring portal opened up and teleported Loki away, leaving behind a card with an address on it.

The card is the same card seen in the post-credits scene to Doctor Strange, and the address is 177A Bleecker Street, the location of Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum. This is the moment that the Doctor Strange post-credits scene takes place, as Thor enters Strange's home and is given a jarring tour courtesy of Doctor Strange's teleportation magic.

As Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Strange has been keeping tabs on any powerful beings who may pose a threat to Earth. After the Battle of New York in Marvel's The Avengers, Loki qualifies both as a being of great power and very much a threat to the Earth.

Thor explains that they are just looking for Odin and that once they've found Odin he'll be to leave Midgard and return Loki to Asgard. Doctor Strange seizes on this opportunity and tells Thor that he already knows where Odin is. Strange releases Loki from the portal where he was trapped and sends both Loki and Thor to Norway to meet their father.

That's the last anyone sees of Doctor Strange in the film. Its significant since its the first interaction Strange has had with the larger Marvel hero community and may be vital to drawing him into the conflict of Avengers: Infinity War.
