NetherRealm Studios shocked everyone when they announced the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for Injustice 2, and fans feel that paved the way for another iconic team.

Over the weekend the full trailer for Injustice 2's fighter pack 3 released, revealed that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would be joining the cast of fighters. The response has been immense to say the least, and it got some fans to thinking "why not add the Power Rangers?"

That's the reasoning behind a new petition started by Thanura Ravindra from Sydney Australia. The petition calls for the five Mighty Morphin Power Rangers to be added to the popular fighting game, citing the Turtles as a direct inspiration.

"The fans of Power Rangers would love to see the Rangers involved in Injustice 2," the petition reads. "Having seen the Rangers with the Justice League in comics, why not go further? And the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are in the game now."

Ravindra also cites the recent BOOM! Studios DC collaboration Justice League/Power Rangers, which brought both teams together as they fought to save both their worlds from Brainiac and Lord Zedd. The crossover was well received by both fandoms, and many are hoping a second team-up is released down the line.

As for Injustice 2, NetherRealm has not announced how the Turtles will actually control or how the game will handle the fact that there are four of them. Will the player control one in particular and then call the others in for specific attacks, or will players have the ability to play as each on its own?

Either way, the Power Rangers would be an amazing addition to the game, especially with their bright costumes and over the top dialogue. Seeing Jason the Red Ranger fighting against Gorilla Grodd or Trini fighting against Wonder Woman would make for some insane footage, and you know the ultimate attack would have to include their individual Zords.

Poison Ivy might have a man-eating plant, but Trini's Sabertooth Tiger Zord would eat it for lunch!

You can check out the petition here.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles hit Injustice 2 sometime next February.
