With 2018 just around the corner, fans are getting ready for another year of anime. Series like My Hero Academia will release their next installments in a few months, and Tokyo Ghoul will debut its third season after a long wait. Now, fans can get a new look at the anime, but the key visual has some feeling wary already.

Earlier this week, Tokyo Ghoul:re shared new posters in Japan, and those visuals have since been released online. As you can see below, the new image highlights each of the main characters of Tokyo Ghoul:re in muted colors.

In the center, Haise Sasaki is seen with this inverted white-and-black hair. Fans will know the hero already since Sasaki is really Ken Kaneki operating under a codename. Ken takes up the moniker Sasaki after he acquires a touch of amnesia, and the new character is known for his work at the CCG.

The poster also highlights the rest of Sasaki's team. In the top left, Ginshi Shirazu is seen with his trademark smile. The team leader's portrait sits above Kuki Urie, and the purple-haired detective looks as bored as usual.

On the right, fans can see Saiko Yonebayashi in the bottom corner with her long blue hair. The heroine is then topped by Tooru Mutsuki who looks plenty shy with his eyepatch on.

The visual gives audiences a better look at how Tokyo Ghoul:re will bring its cast to life, but some fans are unhappy with this rendition. Over on Reddit, anime fans are questioning why the poster's colors look so muted. There's no telling how Studio Pierrot will handle the season's color palatte next year, but audiences are nervous to see what the company will do. Pierrot is still paying after fans revolted against Tokyo Ghoul √A, and anime fans are keeping a close eye on the studio as such.

If you are unfamiliar with Tokyo Ghoul, then you can start catching up on the popular horror series right now. Tokyo Ghoul is set in an alternate reality where creatures known as ghouls exist. The horrifying monsters survive by consuming human flesh and live amongst humans in secret. The story follows a boy named Ken Kaneki after a date-gone-wrong leaves him a half-ghoul. Struggling to adapt to his new life, Ken tries his best to fit into ghoul society, keep his monstrous status hidden from humans, and reign in the insatiable hunger he has for flesh.
