A fan of The Walking Dead has released a touching video dedicated to Carl Grimes under the title of "Shelter."

When The Walking Dead returns for the remainder of its eighth season, the character marked for death in the final moments of Episode 8x08 will see his final moments. The video above, from YouTube user Jessielegend, is a touching tribute to the character who grew up before the world's eyes. Carl actor Chandler Riggs was 10 years old when he joined the AMC series, exiting the zombie drama at the age of 18.

Shelter showcases the relationships between Carl and his biological parents, Rick and Lori. Only one of the characters remains alive, as Michonne stepped into the motherly role for Carl in the wake of Lori's death in Season 3.

"This was the hardest... Losing Steven [Yeun] was... the thought of the journey without Steven in the cast was unbearable but this is... I didn't see it coming," Rick Grimes actor Andrew Lincoln told ComicBook.com. "Scott called me up and said, 'You're gonna hate this one. I want to just forewarn you.' Even then, I was waiting to say, 'This is a really cool way of telling me that I'm off the show, you know that?' That's what I thought he was about to say. He said, 'It's the kid.' I couldn't even say, 'No.' I was silent for a minute. He said, twice, 'Are you still there?' I just didn't see it coming."

The Walking Dead returns for the second half of its eighth season on February 25, 2018. For complete coverage and insider info all season long, follow @BrandonDavisBD on Twitter.
