'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' Predicted to Reach $1.6 Billion Worldwide Box Office

We all new that Star Wars: The Last Jedi was going to make big bank, but as the movie comes out of the Christmas holiday stretch, it's looking like the film will truly be a milestone earner for Disney.
THR is reporting that after Christmas, The Last Jedi is sitting on $745.5 million worldwide, positioning it for a projected $1.6 billion in worldwide ticket sales throughout its theatrical run. The projected $750 - 800 million in domestic ticket sales would potentially put the film in the no. 2 slot for all-time highest grossing US movies, a list that includes:
- Star Wars: The Force Awakens - $936.7M
- Avatar - $760.5M
- Titanic - $659.4M
In term of international sales, The Last Jedi is on track to crack the top 5 of highest-grossing movies worldwide, a list that is currently stacked like this:
- Avatar - $2.79B
- Titanic - $2.19B
- Star Wars: The Force Awakens - $2.07B
- Jurassic World - $1.67B
- Marvel's The Avengers - $1.51B
There has been question about how The Last Jedi is holding up in theaters, after weekend reports spotlighted a 69% decline in ticket sales. With The Force Awakens only dropping 40% and even the divisive Rogue One dropping 59%, industry analysts and pundits were concerned that the numbers indicated fan fatigue with the Star Wars brand. As you can see above, that definitely doesn't seem to be the case.
