Boruto: Naruto Next Generations is heading into the next big arc in the series, and with that brings a new ending theme for the show that reflects the major shift in tone the series is embarking on.

Fans have noticed how Team Seven's first mission quickly took a more deadly turn, and the new ending theme quickly cements that tone in place.

The fourth ending theme is performed by Game Jikkyōsha Wakuwaku Band and started airing alongside Episode 40 of the series. It's full of well animated sequences and visuals like the other ending and opening themes, but there's one major key difference. One scene during the ending teases the destruction of the Hidden Leaf Village as seen in the brief future sequence teased during the first episode.

Episode 40 teases the beginning of the next major arc of the series, which will set up the Chuunin Exams, which was a plot first covered in Boruto: Naruto the Movie and later on in the manga run of the series. Although the new Team 7 finds themselves in their first deadly mission, it will soon lead to even more treacherous predicaments.

Since there is a new ending theme, it should seem like good news for fans since a new ending theme usually means the anime will spend enough time on the arc to warrant a new ending. There is plenty to cover, as well. As the core of the arc follows Boruto as he goes through a dilemma during the Chuunin Exams when he's caught cheating, and his father is kidnapped by a new set of ninja baddies from the Kaguya clan.

This new arc has been hotly anticipated, but it has raised many questions for fans of the series as Boruto has proven to have already learned the same kind of lessons he learns in the movie and the manga run.

For those unfamiliar with Naruto, it has quite a storied history. Originally created by Masashi Kishimoto, the series ran in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump for 700 chapters. The story follows Naruto, a young ninja with a sealed demon within him that wishes to become the leader of his home village. The sequel, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations is set several years after the events of the original Naruto story and featuring the children of many of its key characters such as Naruto and Hinata.
