The devil himself is getting married.

FOX has released the first images for Lucifer's upcoming "wedding." The marriage is between Lucifer, played by Tom Ellis, and Marcus Pierce, played by Tom Welling.

The relationship is a complete sham, which fans may have figured. After all, Lucifer and Marcus don't particularly care for each other.

The wedding is one of convenience. According to Entertainment Weekly, it follows the murder of a former ecstasy cook. The cook became a chemistry teacher but was then murdered in a Los Angeles suburb. Lucifer and Marcus must masquerade as a couple to investigate.

"When Lucifer and Pierce are forced to go above and beyond to solve a murder in Suburbia, uh… there goes the neighborhood," executive producer Ildy Modrovich says.

Welling is a DC television veteran best known to fans for playing Clark Kent on Smallville. Welling has said that Marcus was a nice change of pace from playing Clark on the long-running series.

"I definitely didn't want to play Clark Kent again." Welling said. "The great thing about Clark is he didn't know who he was and he didn't know what he was supposed to do with what he had and his abilities. This character very much knows what he's capable of and knows what he wants to do and knows how to do it. So as much fun as that is to play, it wasn't necessarily because of Clark that I chose this character. It was so many more factors than just, 'I don't want play Clark again,' but I'd be lying if I was saying that I do not enjoy playing something very different for sure."

Marcus Pierce was introduce to Lucifer as an accomplished police lieutenant. Like Lucifer, Pierce is charismatic and charming. Unlike Lucifer, he's also reserved and respected.

One other secret they share in common is that they're both biblical figures. Lucifer is, of course, the devil. He later discovered the Pierce is actually Cain, the first murderer.

Lucifer airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
