For the longest time, we've been trying to figure out what Rocksteady Studios' next project is. We've speculated about it for the longest time, trying to figure out what the creators of the Batman: Arkham trilogy have been up to. And, today, the developer added even more fuel to the fire, all thanks to a simple picture.

The company posted a quick shot of its motion capture team, taking a break from its latest session and striking a pose. You can see the tweet below, where Rocksteady simply states, "Rocksteady's unofficial mocap support crew, fresh from a test shoot."

This provides further proof that the team is working on something new, but isn't telling us just what it is yet. With motion capture involved, however, it could be some sort of action game in the same vein as its Batman efforts.

Fans have already begun speculating on what this new project is, posting all kinds of pictures. Mainly, they're off the Batman and Superman variety, suggesting that the team might be working on a Justice League game, or something along those lines. You can see some of the responses below.

Of course, there's always the notion that the team is working on an entirely new project, since that wouldn't be unheard of within this industry. After all, the team over at Ninja Theory worked on several projects with third parties over the years before breaking away and doing its own thing with Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, a game that thrived with its virtual beauty, emotional heft and excellent gameplay. Could Rocksteady be doing the same thing?

It's too soon to tell, but, with the team already doing mocap work, we're likely to see more of what's going on over there, and we'll keep you informed of what's happening once more is revealed. For now, though, we can only act like the guy in the GIF below and speculate just what they might be up to. Hmmmmm…
