'Star Trek: Discovery' Nominated for a Hugo Award

Star Trek: Discovery has been nominated for one of the most prestigious awards in science fiction.

The Star Trek: Discovery Season One episode "Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad" has been nominated for Best Dramatic Presentation, Short Form. If you need a reminder, "Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad" is the episode in which Harry Mudd (Rainn Wilson) attempts to get revenge on Captain Lorca (Jason Isaacs) by trapping the Discovery and its crew in a time loop and killing them over and over again. The episode was written by Aron Eli Coleite & Jesse Alexander, and directed by David M. Barrett.

There's another nominee that is somewhat Star Trek adjacent in the same category. That would be "USS Callister," the season four episode of Black Mirror that involved a virtual world inspired by Star Trek.

The Doctor Who Christmas Special "Twice Upon a Time" is also nominated in the category. Rounding the nominees out are two episodes of The Good Place, "Michael's Gambit" and "The Trolley Problem," and the song "The Deep," which was created by Clipping for an episode of This American Life.
