Someone Has Already Made A Costume For The New Power Ranger

BOOM! Studios recently made a huge addition to the Power Rangers canon by introducing a new Ranger, a Ranger who's motives are still rather mysterious. That hasn't stopped fans from embracing the new villain wholeheartedly, and someone's already made a stunning Cosplay to boot.

Jose David Rivera Maldonado has been posting photos of his progress costume on Instagram, and recently posted a photo of the finished suit. To call it impressive would be an understatement, especially the work on the green accents and that fantastic helmet. You can see more images of the suit below.

The new Ranger debuted in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #9, and writer Kyle Higgins recently discussed his and Hendry Prasetya's newest creation.

"As a kid, every time a new Ranger showed up it felt like a huge deal—especially a "dark" Ranger. For the same reason that characters like Darth Vader resonate, I've always found the idea of a character who started heroic but changed (or was never good in the first place, but is similar to the heroes) really compelling and a wonderful opportunity for world building. Essentially, by playing the dark mirror angle, you're showing an alternate angle on the concept of a Power Ranger. Who is this person? What happened to them? How did they get their powers? What do they believe in? A character like this really comes down to backstory and motivation for me. That's the most daunting aspect of introducing a new Ranger—especially as a nemesis—and it's something I spent a lot of time developing."

Power Rangers stars Bryan Cranston (Zordon), Elizabeth Banks (Rita Repulsa), Naomi Scott (Kimberly/Pink Ranger), David Denman (Sam Scott), Becky G. (Trini/Yellow Ranger), Sarah Grey (Amanda), RJ Cyler (Billy Cranston/Blue Ranger), Emily Maddison (Rebecca), Ludi Lin (Zack Taylor/Black Ranger), and Dacre Montgomery (Jason Lee Scott/Red Ranger).

Power Rangers is set to land in theaters on March 24, 2017.
