"You may laugh now, but when it happens you’ll be happy you read this, and hey, maybe you’ll even learn a thing or two about how to prepare for a real emergency."
Above is a quote from the Center For Disease Control's official website. The government organization burdened with protecting the public from terrifying and deadly strains of germs and diseases has a plan for the most terrifying apocalyptic situation of all: the zombie apocalypse.
On a blog from the CDC, a thorough plan has been laid out in order to prepare for such an outbreak. Of course, the plan starts at the beginning, in an effort to identify what would be the cause of the zombie infection.
"In movies, shows, and literature, zombies are often depicted as being created by an infectious virus, which is passed on via bites and contact with bodily fluids," the CDC site said. "Harvard psychiatrist Steven Schlozman wrote a (fictional) medical paper on the zombies presented in Night of the Living Dead and refers to the condition as Ataxic Neurodegenerative Satiety Deficiency Syndrome caused by an infectious agent."
Once the apocalypse conquers the world, however, the CDC has a recommended kit to help civilians survive the treacherous and dangerous new world.
The first and most important thing to have prepared for the zombie apocalypse is shelter. Once this is achieved, there are a list of ingredients to best prepare people for survival.
Here they are, as listed by the CDC's blog:
Then comes executing the survival plan.
In order to survive, civilians will have to be fully aware of their surroundings. In other words, they have to be alert to both potential threats or natural disasters which can occur in the area but also know which of their neighbors are most likely to become the Negan's and Governor's of the new world.
Here is the CDC's recommended plan of action...
Perhaps the best part of all of this planning for the zombie apocalypse is the fact that a real poster for it actually exists.
Yes, the Center for Disease Control, the real government association and not the fake location helmed by Dr. Edwin Jenner on The Walking Dead, has a poster to encourage people to be prepared for the zombie apocalypse. And, it's actually fairly creepy.
Check it out.
