AMC has released an extended sneak peek from The Walking Dead's 90 minute mid-season finale, "How It's Gotta Be."
Rick's plan to keep Negan and the Saviors confined to the Sanctuary has been irrevocably ruined. The walker horde pinning the Saviors down has vanished. The Saviors are on their way to Alexandria.
As shown in the mid-season finale preview, Rick and his newly recruited soldiers — Jadis and the untrustworthy Scavengers — find themselves under fire while Alexandria comes under attack.
The sneak peek sees Maggie and Jesus discussing the surrender of the Saviors and Negan's lieutenants: Simon, Gavin, Dwight, Regina and Eugene.
"Do you think they'll surrender?" Jesus asks, hoping they do.
"They will," Maggie tells him. "Eventually."
"Not now?" He wants it to be now.
"Would we give up that quick?" she asks.
"No," Jesus says, "we wouldn't."
"They don't surrender today, they will soon," she says. "Just need to run out of food, water... choices." Maggie spots something ahead. The car slows. It's a toppled tree.
Jesus says it could have fallen on its own.
Maggie knows better. She's seen this before. "It's them."
"You do realize the storm of shit I’m gonna dump on Rick as soon as I’m clear of the shit storm he dumped on me," Negan told the flipped Eugene in 8x07, and he means it. With the Sanctuary freed, Negan is retaliating — and fans should be bracing for at least one possible major death.
The Walking Dead airs its extended mid-season finale Sunday, December 10 at 9/8c on AMC.
