Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans Event To Debut New Suit Form

When it comes to mecha anime, few series can hold a screw to the Gundam franchise. The sci-fi franchise has been around for decades, and it continues to draw in new and old fans because of its stellar reputation. In 2015, Sunrise Studios brought the franchise back to mainstream TV when it debuted a brand-new series called Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans. The show’s second season is now coming to a close, but the praised series has one major reveal left to give before it goes silent.

Yes, that’s right. Gundam fans, get ready; An all-new suit form is coming to the franchise, and it will leave you gaping.

Not long ago, it was confirmed that the new mobile suit transformation would be debuted at an exhibition honoring Iron-Blooded Orphans. The upcoming event will reveal the new form of Gundam Barbatos Lupus which is the suit that hero Mikazuki Augus pilots. Opening on January 20, the Japanese exhibit will also sell the new suit form as a Gunpla model kit, so collectors should keep an eye on the event.

Gundam Barbatos is not the only mobile suit getting time in the spotlight at the event. Other hi-tech models like Graze Ein will be featured, and fans will also be able to get exclusive artwork from Iron-Blooded Orphans’ new season at the exhibition. Other goodies at the event are a Gunpla model of Tekkadan and Gjallerhorn fighting and a 1/10th-scale Barbatos statue.

If you have the money and can somehow attend the Japanese exhibit, then fans can snag some special gear at the event. Products like a limited ediiton HG 1/144 Gundam Barbatos LUPUS figure will be on sale as well as a 6th Form Iron-Blooded Coating Gunpla model.

Not familiar with Iron-Blooded Orphans? Don’t worry; You will fall for the anime once you’ve previewed its first episode. The series is set more than 300 years after the Calamity War first seen in the original Mobile Suit Gundam anime. With the Earth Sphere falling into anarchy, the world has given way to bandits and rebels. Iron-Blooded Orphans focuses on a young boy named Mikazuki Augus as he works for a security company, and his is used as cannon fodder during an ambush. Augus, along with his friend Orga Itsuka, take the chance to revolt against their demeaning employers - and the determined boy changes his fate when he begins piloting an abandoned mobile suit known as Gundam Barbatos.
