Bandai Namco Entertainment has released the opening video for its upcoming Accel World VS Sword Art Online game.

The game will feature favorite characters from the two popular video game anime series. The game's exciting new theme song lays the background in the opening video, and is performed by the original two groups who did the theme songs for Accel World and Sword Art Online, KOTOKO and Luna Haruna.

Sword Art Online is a highly popular anime that takes place in the near future and is set inside a virtual reality MMORPG world. The players of a game called Sword Art Online are trapped inside of the game and have to beat the game, or will die in real life. Players online escape is beating all 100 levels of the game. The story follows Kirito as he tries to survive the virtual hell, and progresses through the game with a girl named Asuna who ends up becoming a love interest. There are currently two seasons of the anime series and a upcoming animated film set to come out in February 2017 titled Sword Art Online The Movie: Ordinal Scale.

Accel World is an anime which follows Haru, a short overweight boy who is made fun of at school but escapes through virtual reality cyberspace. Because of his video game skills, he is befriended by a beautiful popular girl named Kuroyukihime, who helps him against his bullies. She then shows him a secret program that essentially stops time and a secret Augmented Reality fighting game, Brain Burst, in which people duel in fierce battles for a chance to win points that can be used to accelerate abilities in real life. The pair attempts to reach the final level of the Brain Burt in order to meet the game creator and learn what the purpose of the game is. The anime adaptation was released in 2012, and a new original film was released in July of 2016 titled Accel World: Infinite Burst.

The game is scheduled to ship in Japan on March 16 2017, and will feature a full cast of characters from each of the series. The game has confirmed the Sword Art Online characters Kirito, Asuna, Lisbeth, and Silica, and Accel World characters Kuroyukihime/Black Lotus, Silver Crow, Scarlet Rain, and Lime Bell. Voice actors from the original anime adaptations will be voicing the same roles in the game. The game will be available for PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 4 only.
