JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Live-Action Film Debuts First Teaser

Anime fans, this year will be a one for the books when it comes to live-action adaptations. This month, Hollywood will dip its toes back into the world of anime when Paramount Pictures releases its take on Ghost in the Shell. Other projects like Fullmetal Alchemist will also get their first live-action adaptation over in Japan later this year. And, in April, a strange feature will make its debut when JoJo's Bizarre Adventure rolls out in Japan.

And, now, you can get your first-look at the film.

Over on Youtube, the first official teaser for JoJo's Bizarre Adventure has dropped. The film, which is titled JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Dimond Is Unbreakable Chapter 1, was directed by Takashi Miike. In the past, the director has worked on other adapted films like Ace Attorney and Terra Formers to varying success.

Looking at the new teaser, fans are shown a slew of shots featuring actor Kento Yamazuki as Josuke Higashikata. And, with lots of hair gel, it even looks like the project managed to get the character's coifed hair just right.

If you are not familiar with JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, then it is time you got yourself acquainted with the series. The manga and anime are some of the most popular in Japan, and it has fans spanning across the globe. The series debuted in 1987 under Hirohiko Araki at Weekly Shonen Jump. It is the publication's second-largest manga to date, and David Production turned it into an on-going anime back in October 2012.

The story follows the Joestar family as each member is gifted with unique powers to take down supernatural foes. The live-acton film will be sourced from the latest arc and follow hero Josuke Higashikata after he learns he's the illegitimate son of Joseph Joestar. A man named Jotaro comes to warn the powerful hero that a seedy group of Stand users are looking to acquire power from a mystical Bow and Arrow. Teaming up with Jotaro, Josuke agrees to get the Bow and Arrow out of enemy hands, but their job grows more complicated when they learn a notorious serial killer in Morioh is a new Stand user named Yoshikage Kira.
