The author tweeted the awesome 90's looking preview, and adds "New one-shot appears in the monthly magazine next month in "nostalgic!" theme". Also that the upcoming one-shot was made with "readers in their 20s and 30s in mind". The upcoming story will be a three chapter manga with a total of 26 pages. The totally nostalgic image shows a kawaii blue hair girl with a skirt with classic Playstation buttons, an original Game Boy in hand, and a Tamagotchi! on her headband.
Sankaku Head's Himoto! Umaru-chan manga has had over 2.7 million copies in print. The manga first debuted in Weekly Young Jump in 2013, and published its last volume (9) back in November. There will be a full 10th volume also coming with and original anime will be available on DVD April.
If you are not familiar with Himoto! Umaru-chan, the series follows Umaru Doma. Umaru is a normal high school girl who lives with her older brother Taihei. At school she is a model student fitting all the criteria, she is beautiful, gets all A's, and has talent in many aspects. At home however, Umaru turns into a whole new person. She enjoys relaxing and spends her time lying around, playing video games, and constantly depending on her older brother to do everything. The series follows Umaru and her alternative personalities as she meets new friends, and lives her two separate lives.
The new three issue "nostalgia" manga will release in May's issue of Kodansha's Monthly Shonen Magazine, and the anime adaptation of himoto! Umaru-chan is currently available to stream on Crunchyroll.
