At the beginning of the month Warner Bros. Japan released a brand-new trailer for Fullmetal Alchemist. Today, the company released the same clip with English subtitles for fans in the West. The live-action movie is set to debut in December 2017, and the clip gave plenty of insight into the film's background.

The English subtitles reveal that the boys are in fact talking about their mother in the trailer and bringing her back from the dead using forbidden alchemy. Fans also get to see the boys grown up, with Alphonse in his armor, and Edward with his metal arm.

If you want to know when this movie will drop, then you don't have to guess for long. The folks behind the live-action project have already announced a premiere date. The movie will debut in December. The news was made official over on the film's official Twitter page, and the studio had this to say about the announcement: "The opening day of the movie "FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST" will be decided on December 1st."

The live-action take on Fullmetal Alchemist is one of the many anime projects to come up this year. This month, Hollywood brought out its take on Ghost in the Shell under director Rupert Sanders. The film has not fared well at the box office, but fans have not been too surprised by the reception. The film was plagued with a slew of controversies regarding its casting. As for Fullmetal Alchemist, the movie has had a different sort of take on its casting. The anime features a predominantly European roster, but the live-action film has brought in a full Japanese cast.

If you are not familiar with Fullmetal Alchemist, then you have plenty of time to watch the anime before its live-action film arrives. The series follows brothers Edward and Alphonse after their mother tragically passes. They attempt to use alchemy to resurrect her, but the attempt takes Edward's arm and leg - and it takes Alphonse's entire body. Determined to get their bodies restored, Edward and Alphonse try to become State Alchemists so they can find the location of a powerful item known as the Philosopher's Stone. But their journey ultimately leads them into a seedy world of government corruption and mass genocide.

This year, fans of the shonen series will be able to see more of the Elric Brothers than they have for some time. In December, Warner Bros. Japan will release the first live-action adaptation of Fullmetal Alchemist.
