This week Sony Entertainment held its annual Sony IR (investor relations) Day. Higher-ups in the company such as President/CEO Kazuo Hirai and Music Entertainment CEO Rob Stringer showed investors the future of the enterprise in Tokyo. One project that stood out to audience is when Hirai discussed the future of Fate/Grand Order. With the smartphone RPG being ultra popular among anime fans, with over 9 million downloads in Japan alone. At the event, it was announced that there will be more anime and and extension to the franchise.

Fate/Grand Order currently has one anime special titled Fate/Grand Order: First Order that released on new year of this year. Crunchyroll describes the film below:

The Chaldea Security Organization was founded to focus on preserving the continuation of human history. They observe a world which magecraft couldn't observe, and science couldn't measure, all to prevent the certain extinction of humanity. But one day, the future that Chaldea continued to observe disappears and humanity's extinction in 2017 becomes clear. Based on the assumption that Fuyuki, a provincial town in Japan, is the reason for humanity's extinction, Chaldea issues an order to explore, investigate, and possibly destroy this singularity – a quest for the Holy Grail, the Grand Order.
