JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Creator Shares One Insane Naruto Sketch

Over the years, Naruto has adopted several different styles. The ninja may be known for his garish orange get-ups and whiskers, but Masashi Kishimoto always manages to make the outfit work. However, if Naruto were to have been drawn by Hirohiko Araki, things would have been very different.

Over on Reddit, one hilarious yet terrifying throwback sketch is making its way around the anime fandom. A few years back, the creator of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure was tasked with drawing his own rendition of Naruto Uzumaki for fans. The portrait has since been shared on the Internet, and fans are remembering just how scary the drawing was.

The picture, which can be seen below, shows an overly detailed sketch of Naruto a la Naruto Shippuden. The ninja's hair looks as jagged as ever, and his clothes do look nicer; The orange-and-black jacket looks tidy with its ornate zipper. But, when you study Naruto's face, things start to get weird.

Araki is known for his peculiar art style, and his take on Naruto is as impressive as it is disturbing. The character has been given an ornately detailed mug. Naruto is seen with plush, pouty lips which lie under one carefully carved nose. The ninja's cheek whiskers have also been enlarged as well as his ears. However, Naruto's most striking feature comes in his eyes; The character looks more expressive than ever thanks to his batting eyelashes and thick eyebrows.

For fans, Araki's take on Naruto is interesting to look at. Otakus are used to seeing Kishimoto's take on the fabled hero, so it is disconcerting to see another artist try their hand at Naruto. The drawing is by no means bad; It simply gives another look into at the ninja which fans would likely have never dreamt of themselves. So, if you want Araki to try sketching folks like Sasuke or Gaara, you might want to start petitioning the manga creator now.

Author/artist Masashi Kishimoto was born in 1974 in rural Okayama Prefecture, Japan. Like many kids, he was first inspired to become a manga artist in elementary school when he read Dragon Ball. After spending time in art college, he won the Hop Step Award for new manga artists with his story Karakuri. After considering various genres for his next project, Kishimoto decided on a story steeped in traditional Japanese culture.

His first version of Naruto, drawn in 1997, was a one-shot story about fox spirits; his final version, which debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1999, quickly became the most popular ninja manga in the world. The series would also spawn multiple anime series, movies, novels, video games and more.
