August is almost here, and that means the live-action Death Note movie is finally on its way.
As promotion for the manga adaptation, the studio has been slowly releasing promotional materials in the form of teasers, trailers, and posters. While the title posters have been pretty solid, this newly-released image takes the cake.
The L poster shows off Lakeith Stanfield's unique take on one the manga's most beloved character. In full black-and-white, L stares down the camera. He's dressed in his new movie garb, which consists of a hooded sweatshirt, dark t-shirt, and a bandana covering his face.
Around L are scribbles of notes, as well as Kira's signature. It goes a long way to show just how in his own head L can be.
You can check out the full L poster in the gallery below!
Death Note will be available to stream on Netflix beginning August 25, 2017.
What if you had the power to decide who lives and who dies? We suggest you obey the rules. Based on the famous Japanese manga written by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, Death Note follows a high school student who comes across a supernatural notebook, realizing it holds within it a great power; if the owner inscribes someone's name into it while picturing their face, he or she will die. Intoxicated with his new godlike abilities, the young man begins to kill those he deems unworthy of life.
