Social media is a way of life for celebrities, and musical acts depend on the platform to keep them connected with fans. Stars like Justin Bieber are known for their social media usage, but Twitter says 2017 was taken over by none other than BTS.

Earlier today, the website released its trends for 2017 as a wrap-up special before the holidays. It was there Twitter confirmed BTS topped its list of most tweeted-about music artists in the U.S. but also around the globe.

According to the numbers, BTS snagged the number one spot to become Twitter's most buzzed-about artist in the U.S. The k-pop group was quickly followed by Nicki Minaj, Harry Styles, Chance the Rapper, Niall Horan, Fifth Harmony, Justin Bieber, Shawn Mendes, Rihanna, and Ariana Grande.

Twitter also confirmed BTS topped its list of most tweeted-about celebrities around the globe. The group wasn't the only k-pop act to join the list as SEVENTEEN followed in its second spot. Camila Cabello, Justin Bieber, Main Mendoza, Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Ethan Dolan, and Grayson Dolan also made the list. And, yes - Monsta X also graced the round-up.

As you can imagine, BTS also did well with its Twitter trends in South Korea. According to the site, the band was the most-tweeted keyword in South Korea during the past year. The rising group was then followed by other acts like Wanna One, EXO, GOT7, SEVENTEEN, Monsta X, NU'EST, Red Velvet, TWICE, and Highlight.

The social media milestone is not a surprising one for BTS to nab. Earlier this year, the group was nominated for Top Social Artist at the Billboard Music Awards, and BTS snagged the honor from Justin Bieber who held its title since it was created. With more than 10 million followers on Twitter, BTS is becoming a social media powerhouse, and fans from around the world are happy to be plugged in.
