'Tokyo Ghoul' Creator Celebrates Olympics With Yuzuru Hanyu Sketch

The 2018 Winter Olympics are here, and the games seem to be on everyone's mind. With some of the world's greatest athletes competing in South Korea, millions are cheering for their favorites from home, and Sui Ishida is one such fan.

Just check out the manga creator's Twitter. You will see the guy has a thing for Yuzuru Hanyu if you do.

Taking to social media, Ishia shared his support for Hanyu with a touching sketch. The artist, who is known best for making Tokyo Ghoul, did a breathtaking sketch of Hanyu to honor the figure skater's performance at the PyeongChang Olympics.

The artwork, which can be seen below, shows Hanyu as if he were a character in Tokyo Ghoul. The piece's blurred lines and pastel colors make the skater look otherworldly, and his narrow gaze would make Ken Kaneki shiver.

Of course, Ishida posted the artwork to celebrate Hanyu and his recent historic Olympics outing. The famed Japanese figure skater defended his status as an Olympic gold medalist this weekend. Hanyu got first place in the men's single program after making one impressive comeback following an ankle injury last November. The 23-year-old took home the gold medal after doing so at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

The win was a celebrated one as Hanyu furthered solidified Japan's place in the figure skating world. The skater is the first man to win two consecutive Olympic goal medals since Dick Button, and Hanyu is largely regarded as one of the world's greatest figure skaters. He is also a well-known anime fan, and Hanyu has talked about his love of Tokyo Ghoul in previous interviews.

For those unfamiliar with Tokyo Ghoul, the series was original created by Sui Ishida. The story follows Ken Kaneki, a student who survives an encounter with his date, who turns out to be a ghoul. Kaneki's world is filled with Ghouls, beings who eat humans, and they've been living among humans in secret. After surviving this attack he wakes up to realize that he himself has become a ghoul because of a surgery that implanted organs from the ghoul who attacked him. In order to live somewhat a normal life, Kaneki needs to eat human flesh to survive. Luckily he's taken in by a group of ghouls at the cafe Anteiku, who help him reintegrate into society.
