Marvel Offers Dark Tower Midnight Release
Dark Tower: The Long Road Home is a Marvel Comics adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower. In order to celebrate this huge comic event, Marvel Comics is offering a midnight release of Dark Tower: The Long Road Home #1 on the night of Wednesday, March 5, 2008.

In Dark Tower: The Long Road Home, Roland Deschain and his ka-tet fight for their survival. After the death of Susan, Roland and his companions try to make their way home. However, the Big Coffin Hunters are on their trail and visions of Susan’s death haunt Roland. Roland falls into a coma, and the people who burned Susan try to make him their next victim.
Stan Lee Talks Skrulls in the Latest Marvel Podcast
Stan Lee, creator of Spider-Man, the X-Men and the Incredible Hulk is the featured guest in this week’s Marvel Podcast. Stan takes listeners on a fascinating journey of the history of the Skrulls, which first appeared in Fantastic Four #2. “I wanted the FF to have face the biggest menace I could find, that I could think of”, said Lee. The Skrulls have lasted over 40 years, and Lee provides insight into why they have been such a powerful presence over the last four-plus decades.
Echo And The Infiltration In New Avengers #39
In New Avengers #39, the New Avengers take refuge in the Avengers Penthouse. The team continues to elude Stark’s Mighty Avengers and continues to hunt down Skrull imposters. This issue follows Echo as a skeptical Maya Lopez, along with Wolverine riding shotgun, widens her eyes in a shocking revelation about the Skrull infiltration.
This issue also leads up to the Secret Invasion event and includes a very special guest appearance. New Avengers is written by Brian Michael Bendis with art by David Mack. New Avengers #39 is set to hit comic stores on March 12, 2008.
The Last Defenders Are Back!
Veteran Defender Nighthawk returns as team leader of the Defenders in The Last Defenders #1 (of 6). With a superpowered team consisting of Blazing Skull, She Hulk, and Colossus, the Defenders battle the Sons of Serpents in their first mission and awaken the feared Aztec god, Quetzalcoatl.
The Last Defenders #1 is written by Joe Casey and penciled by Jim Muniz. The Last Defenders #1 will hit the street on 3/12/08.
Marvel To Do New Printing Of The Twelve #2
The Twelve #2 has sold out at Diamond Comic Distributors, so Marvel Comics will do a new printing to help meet demand. The Twelve is a 12 issue limited series that follows the story of mystery men and women from WW2 seeking to find their place in the modern world, while someone is hunting them.
The Twelve is written by J. Michael Straczynski and penciled by Chris Weston. The second printing of The Twelve #2 will feature a variant cover of interior art of Chris Weston. The second printing is due to hit comic stores on March 19, 2008.
Fantastic Four #554 Going To Second Printing
The original printing of Fantastic Four #554 has sold out at Diamond Comic Distributors, so Marvel has announced that they will be doing a second printing. The second printing will have a variant cover featuring Bryan Hitch’s interior art.
Fantastic Four #554 is by writer Mark Millar and artist Bryan Hitch. The storyline is called “World’s Greatest.” The second printing is set to hit stands on March 19, 2008.
“First off, a great big thanks,” said Millar. “Our friends all pointed at us and laughed when we said we wanted to put FF back in the top ten, but we love this book. We have always believed in it and are both just delighted to see our naive, slightly deranged enthusiasm reach other people and translate into great sales. A huge thanks from both Scotland and England to everyone who got out there and supported us. We were really, really happy with the numbers, but to hear that the book sold out in a day is just nuts. We promise this is only the beginning and the fun has only begun!”
Incredible Hulk Turns Red
In Hulk #2, the Incredible Hulk is turning red. The red Hulk’s first appearance is being written by Eisner-winning, Emmy-nominated author Jeph Loeb and fan-favorite artist Ed McGuinness.
In Hulk #2, red Hulk will battle the invincible Iron Man. The comic is set to arrive in stores on Wednesday, February 20, 2008, but there is a sneak peek available for fans that just can’t wait. USA Today has an exclusive 10-page digital comic preview of Hulk #2.
Heroes Renewed For 2008-09 Season By NBC
As if there was ever any doubt, but now it is official that NBC has renewed Heroes for the 2008-09 season. The announcement was made recently by Ben Silverman, who is Co-Chairman of NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios, and Marc Graboff, who is also Co-Chairman of NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios.
After mentioning two other series being renewed, Silverman said, “Additionally, we will be saving and re-launching our #1 drama and most successful franchise, Heroes, so that it will run in all original episodes in the fourth quarter.”
“These pickups are a sign of our confidence in these quality series and will allow the respective producers to get a head start on their creative arc for next season,” said Graboff. “As a result, they give us a lot to build on as we point to next year’s schedule.”
Marvel Going Back To Press On Captain Marvel #3
In Captain Marvel #3, there was another Skrull sighting, and it’s no surprise that the issue has sold-out. However, comic fans who weren’t lucky enough to scoop up the original printing when it was still on stands will now have a second chance to pick up the comic.
Marvel Comics has announced that they are going back to press on Captain Marvel #3. The new printing will have an interior variant cover by Lee Weeks. In Captain Marvel #3, readers can find out about the secret behind Captain Marvel’s trip back through time and the dark purpose behind the church that has begun worshipping Captain Marvel. Also, the last page sets up ramifications for the upcoming mega-event Secret Invasion.
The Captain Marvel limited series is set to run for five issues, so fans will also want to pick up Captain Marvel #4 and #5, which are also Secret Invasion: Infiltration tie-ins. Captain Marvel #3 is written by Brian Reed, penciled by Lee Weeks, and colored by Jason Keith. The main cover is by Ed McGuinness. The second printing of Captain Marvel #3 will go on sale on March 19, 2008.
Anita Blake Vampire Hunter Meets The Church Of Eternal Life
Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter: Guilty Pleasure published by Marvel Comics is an adaptation of the novel by New York Times best-selling author Laurell K Hamilton. The comic version is adapted by writer Jessica Ruffner and artist Ron Lim. The series is running for a total of twelve issues, and the night issue will be hitting stands on March 5, 2008.
In Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter: Guilty Pleasures #9, vampire hunter Anita Blake is investigating a mysterious killer. Anita also meets with the Church of Eternal Life, which is a group promising and delivering eternal life for vampires. In addition to the regular cover by Ron Lim, issue #9 also features a variant cover by fan-favorite artist Brett Booth.
In addition to the comic limited series, there is also a hardcover currently on sale. Laurell K Hamilton’s Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter: The First Death HC, collects a brand new Anita story created for comics. The hardcover is written by Laurell K Hamilton and Jonathon Green, with art by Wellinton Alves.
