Did NBC’s Heroes Redeem Itself With Volume 4?

Rating: 0.0/10 (0 votes cast)

After losing fans with confusing episodes where everyone seemed to get killed over and over again, Heroes has returned with Volume 4: Fugitives. After watching the Volume 4 premiere, I think the show is finally getting back on track. While the episode was reminiscent of the X-Men, it succeeded in presenting a clear and concise story that almost anyone could follow. It also included a good mixture of action and humor.

If you haven’t watched the “A Clear And Present Danger” episode of Heroes yet, then stop reading now because Heroes spoilers are contained below. “A Clear And Present Danger” kicked off with Tracy Strauss watching Nathan Petrelli on television talking about a threat to homeland security. After showing a little skin while switching into a bathrobe, Tracy is abducted by a group of masked men.

Things then take a lighter turn with a powerless Hiro wanting to live out his superpower fantasies through Ando. Hiro shows Ando a spandex superhero costume and the Ando-cycle, but when Hiro injects Ando with a GPS tracking device, an angry Ando speeds away on the Ando-cycle.

Peter Petrelli is back working as a paramedic and is frustrated that he can’t save a car wreck victim. Angela Petrelli is attempting to convince Claire Bennet that she should go to college and live a normal life. However, Claire listens in on a conversation between Nathan and Angela about capturing those with abilities.

Matt wants to live like a normal person, but Daphne thinks a normal life is boring. Sylar seems to just want to find his daddy. Suresh has returned to driving a cab, but he is abducted by HRG. Nathan abducts his own brother Peter.  Matt, Claire, and Hiro are also abducted by Nathan’s team. Only Slyar proves to be more than a match for his attempted captors.

All the captured heroes are taken to an airplane hanger, where Nathan lets Claire go. However, Claire sneaks aboard the airplane where the captured heroes are held. She helps to free Peter, who accidently knocks a hole in the airplane wall. The episode ends with the cliffhanger of the airplane about to crash.
