Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura talks G.I. Joe: The Rise of COBRA
With ‘G.I. Joe: The Rise of COBRA opening next week, more and more information on the film is leaking out.
Superherohype has an interview with producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura. Some highlights:
On whether or not the film will rely on CGI:
“Not for the stunts, no. The CGI is really for the underwater environment and we have a giant chase scene where we go all through Paris and do some crazy stuff. The only way you can do that is with CGI.”
On the possibility of a sequel:
“Well what people don’t understand and it’s always interesting to talk to the non-initiate of ‘Transformers’ or ‘G.I. Joe.’ Hasbro developed real deep mythology to both of those properties so it’s the kind of property that naturally lends itself to multiple interpretations. There are so many different characters. Some people on the Web were like, “Why wasn’t Flint in this movie?” Well Duke or Flint. Some people like Duke, some people like Flint. Some people like Lady Jaye, some people love Scarlett. There’s an opportunity to do more than one film if you’re lucky enough to get the first one right.”
Justice League: Who Will be the Final Members?

Another thing that is not a secret is the identities of some of those members, as recently revealed at Comic-Con. With a very cryptic image, as seen here, revealing some of those characters, the big, and obvious question, remains.

An Announcement That Wasn’t Made At Comic Con
With all the announcements coming out of Comic Con 2009, Image Comics has taken the rather unusual and perhaps ingenious approach of issuing a press release about an announcement that wasn’t made. With all the news covering what did happen at Comic Con, what better way to stand out than to talk about something that didn’t happen.
According to the Image Comics release, Madman Atomic Comics’ Mike Allred and Soul Kiss’ Steven T. Seagle have confirmed that they did not announce a new project at this year’s Comic Con International during the Mike Allred spotlight panel. The reason for the non-announcement was cited as being the sheer number of announcements made at the show this year was reason enough to withhold information.
“We would have been be lost in the shuffle,” Allred said. “Especially since I was already announcing the new graphic novel I am co-editing, One Model Nation, by writer Courtney Taylor and illustrator Jim Rugg as well my all-new the Vertigo series, I, Zombie. I thought it might be better to just wait until later, and Seagle just kept saying we shouldn’t do it at all.”
